Large Italian glass globe lamp
Description
A large Italian glass globe in white mottled blown glass, originally made as a ceiling pendant with its chrome cylinder base. We replaced the wiring to make it work as a freestanding table lamp, everything else is original.
The globe is hand-blown using a technique that traps white glass in organic, pebble-like clusters against a clear base, giving it a texture reminiscent of sea foam or packed snow. When lit, the light filters through in warm patches, completely different from when it's off.
The chrome and brass details are characteristic of AV Mazzega's production in the 1970s, when Carlo Nason served as the company's sole designer. No maker's mark present. Attributed based on form, materials and construction.
Some patina on the chrome base, consistent with age. The globe itself is in excellent condition.
Two lamps available, sold per piece.
